Dear Friends,
PER:
4-hour Training for KEY LEADERS who can be PEMANTAU coordinators in
Selangor and Kuala Lumpur
SALAM BERSIH 2.0,
Bersih 2.0 has LAUNCHED its campaign called 'PEMANTAU PILIHAN
RAYA RAKYAT (PEMANTAU)', with the slogan "JOM PANTAU". THE PEMANTAU campaign
is ORGANISED by BERSIH 2.0 working in calibrationwith Pusat Komas and Mafrel. [Attach is a
leaflet with the contact details and website address of PEMANTAU].
The
objectives of Pemantau are
as follows:
1. To empower the rakyat to be the
election watch for GE 13.
2. To further enhance EFFORTS towards achieving a
free and fair election in line with Bersih 2.0 DEMANDS
3. To alert all stakeholders (Government, EC,
Political Parties and the voters) to adhere to the election rules and
regulations.
The electoral roll is still not clean as we still
observe existence of dubious voters emerging in every quarter; media access
being restricted to announcement of parties' manifesto; process of applying the
indelible ink is unclear and unpublicised; and many more critical and
unresolved electoral issues. BERSIH 2.0 has decided to push forward with its campaign
for national election observers (PEMANTAU) and to seek the help of every
citizens of Malaysia to not only come out to vote but to also be BERSIH 2.0's
eyes and ears for PRU 13.
In the Declaration of global principles for
non-partisan election observation and monitoring, of which BERSIH 2.0 has
endorsed, it revealed that "in more than 90 countries on five continents
over the last two decades, millions of citizens have joined non-partisan
election observation and monitoring efforts to ensure electoral integrity
and promote accountability in government and among political
contestants. This has contributed to safeguarding
genuine elections, mitigating potentials for conflict, and promoting
accountability and democratic development." [www.gndem.org/declaration-of- global-principles]
BERSIH 2.0 is confident that PEMANTAU will
contribute greatly to ensuring clean and fair elections. BERSIH 2.0 aims
to reach out to at least 10,000 Malaysians to help us be BERSIH 2.0 PEMANTAU and
this is where we seek your organisation's assistance to make this a reality.
BERSIH 2.0 is now organising statewide training for PEMANTAU and
