Silence, is never always golden.
(Yes Sir, please say something, else violence is taken to
be part of our culture)
This piece is from a friend:
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: I asked
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) about a virgin whose marriage is
solemnised by her guardian, whether it was necessary or not to consult her.
Allah's Messerger (may peace be upon him) said: Yes, she must be consulted.
'A'isha reported: I told him that she feels shy, whereupon Allah's Messenger
(may peace be upon him) said: Her silence implies her consent.
After reading
the above hadith, i.e. saying of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, a friend adds the
following remark. I wonder if his interpretation is correct?
By
extension, does it mean that if a ruler is silent on the wrong-doings and
heinous mischievousness of his subjects, the ruler actually condones such deplorable
acts?”
