Ada lagikah yang lebih istimewa?

The remark by Election Commission (EC) chairperson Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof that he "is no expert" to judge whether the dishing out of campaign goodies flouts election laws has earned him more brickbats from civil society groups.

Election watchdog Bersih 2.0 chief Ambiga Sreenevasan cited specific laws to prove that EC has the power and responsibility to combat election corruption, and she decried that this has not been exercised by the EC.

On Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's "you help me, I help you" remark made during campaigning in at least two by-elections, Ambiga said this clearly came under section 10 of Election Offences Act 1954 (EOA).

This section defines inducement to voters during campaigning.

Ambiga said the EC has the responsibility to ensure that such incidents are brought to the attention of the authorities in order to ensure the free and fair conduct of elections.

However, Abdul Aziz (left) had refused to take a stand on the matter.

aku dan cita-cita

mulanya kuingin sekali

jadi askar, biar gagah

“apakah ada askar itu pengkar?”

maka, kusimpan cita-cita:

gelojak ranggi mengelus senjata

derap segak pabila berkawat!

ah, hebatnya seorang askar.

negara mujur, betapa mujur

aku tidak pernah jadi askar

akhirnya, kujadi pegawai

baru kutahu pegawai itu dilentur

oleh adab, peraturan undang-undang

‘itu kalian mesti hormati!’

namun kutahu, jua ― akhirnya

‘keramat’ itu amanat, tidak bertulis:

apa, bagaimana, bila seleranya lagi lahap

ya, segala yang mesti kujilat, angkat-junjung

‘di atas batu jemala pacal yang hina ini’

iii.

‘keramat’ itulah paling cepat janji menjanjikan:

segala habuan ― tepat, TIDAK pernah mungkir

itu rumusnya: petaku, denaiku, doaku

hatta sujud, 34 itu pun terhitung, semuanya.

lumayan ― cukup lumayan ― habuannya,  

TIDAK pernah walaupun sekali ― ia mungkir!

iv.

dalam alam jagat raya maha luas ini

cuba kalian tunjuk, bisik, buktikan:

ada lagikah yang lebih istimewanya?

wangsa maju, kuala lumpur
